But with data lags and holes in testing, are we sure? Here's your First Look at Monday's news. School virus cases in Oregon: Taking a look at the numbersA little over a week ago, the Oregon Health Authority reported 245 schools with at least one recent COVID-19 case. This past week, the number rose to 329. Health officials say increased community cases may lead to increased COVID-19 cases reported in schools, but they contend that does not necessarily mean transmission in schools. “Of all those cases we’re seeing in schools, a very small percentage of them are associated with an actual school outbreak,” OHA Senior Health Advisor Tom Jeanne said. “In other words, most of them — the COVID was acquired outside of the school.” But the state’s data on COVID-19 cases connected to schools can be confusing. Central Washington' s solar energy nightmareIf approved, a utility-scale solar farm in Klickitat County would be the largest in Washington. Some say its potential location doesn’t take one important thing into account: environmental justice. “We were horrified (when we found out about the project),” area property owner Amy Hanson says. “(Turns out) because of the nice, new, shiny substation there, this is prime area for them to develop solar.” Neighbors have banded together to fight the project.
