Israel unleashed an intense wave of airstrikes in the Gaza Strip Monday morning, pounding the homes of Hamas commanders and destroying miles of underground tunnels built by the terror organization. That hasn't stopped Gaza terrorists from launching relentless barrages of rockets at Israeli civilians. The last 24 hours have been the deadliest in the latest round of violence between Israel and Gaza as calls for an immediate ceasefire mount. Here's what you need to know.

The CDC on Sunday defended its decision to tell fully vaccinated Americans they can ditch the masks, stressing politics had nothing to do with the abrupt shift in guidelines. The CDC's recommendation sparked some confusion because it does not lift local mask mandates, leaving states and local officials to decide if and how they will implement federal advice. Americans across the South and Northeast are still feeling the effects of the cyberattack that temporarily shut down the country's largest fuel pipeline last week. The fuel shortage has all but emptied gas stations in the nation's capital, where 80% of stations have no gas.
Some 1,000 people have evacuated from their homes in California as a fire sweeps through more than 1,000 acres of land in western Los Angeles County. The cause of the fire is unknown, but fire officials are investigating possible arson as they work to contain the blaze.
The PBS series "American Experience" will explore the life of world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham in a two-hour documentary premiering today. PBS says the film "examines the evangelist's extraordinary influence on American politics and culture.
