Why Product Configurator Matters for Ultimate Personalization

Personalization is the key to a happy customer.  Studies show that 71% of consumers are frustrated at some level since their shopping experience is so impersonal. Easy enough to say, but can customization on a mass scale be achieved?  Personalization is not a new conversation - it's been the promise ever since the dot com revolution - but its time has come now that manufacturing technologies have finally caught up with product configurators.

There are four main ways that customization can be handled:

  1. Adaptive customization: Using standardized products to accommodate many uses such as Phillips light bulbs.  Here, customers can adjust color, brightness, and change how lights are controlled.
  2. Transparent customization: Where manufacturing is able to use customer data.  This is often seen in the beauty, hair, and skin products industry, formulated for each customer.
  3. Cosmetic customization: Nike is a great example, where there is a standard style and size of shoe, customizing colors and finishes.
  4. Collaborative customization: This is the highest and most advanced level.  One example is Sheffer Cylinder Configurator, where customers can work directly with their engineering.

Product configurator now allows the realization of personalization and customization - even down to an individual level.  Learn more about this technology in the infographic below:

Apple Reveals Why the "Allow Apps to Request to Track" Option May be Greyed Out

Posted: 29 Apr 2021 08:48 AM PDT

Apple released its latest OS versions this week, including the iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, and tvOS 14.5. As a part of the update, apps will not be allowed to track users' activity for advertising purpose, without users' permission.

Users can manage tracking permissions in the settings option. There is also an option to "Allow Apps to Request to Track" that can be turned on for all apps. If this option is toggled off, it automatically means that you have not allowed any app to track you.

However, Apple has recently revealed that there are certain circumstances where the "Allow Apps to Request to Track" setting is greyed out. The conditions are: child accounts or users under age 18 by birth year, signed in with their Apple ID, an Apple ID managed by an educational institution or that uses a configuration profile that limits tracking, and an Apple ID created in the last three days.

Some users have been spotting issues with the app tracking option, where the toggle is greyed out even if they do not fall under any of the conditions. This suggests that there may be a bug or some technical issue with the setting. Apple has not yet confirmed the assumption.

As the infographic reveals, a Gallup study shows that almost 75 percent of the employees resigned from their jobs just because they had a bad leader.
