Samsung’s New “iTest” Web App Lets iPhone Users Explore the Android and Galaxy Experience

Posted: 10 Apr 2021 02:18 PM PDT

In an attempt to attract iPhone users, Samsung has launched a new website "iTest", which is going to let iPhone users experience the world of Android through a web app. This can be done by simply adding iTest's web app to your iPhone's home screen from the website.

"You're about to get a little taste of Samsung, without changing phones. We can't replicate every function, but you should quickly see that there's nothing daunting about switching to the other side," Samsung says about iTest.

Even though like how Samsung said, not every Android function could be replicated, the experience is still quite impressive as it accurately replicates the Android and Samsung Galaxy experience.

As part of this unique experience, you can browse the Galaxy Store, change themes, explore the Samsung Camera app, among many other options. One clever incorporation in this experience is the banner image of the Galaxy Store, which displays Fortnite's ad, the game that Apple has removed from its App Store.

The iTest experience also includes simulated text notifications and phone calls, so you can try a variety  of ways to communicate with family and friends. Samsung has also made sure to promote its Galaxy products through this web app, like the Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Watch3, and Galaxy Buds Live.

iTest is currently being promoted in New Zealand only, although the app is available to use all over the world and is expected to be soon advertised by Samsung via a worldwide marketing campaign.

Yahoo Plans to Terminate Yahoo Answers on May 4th

Posted: 10 Apr 2021 10:09 AM PDT

Yahoo Answers has been one of the oldest platforms offering online Q&A, but it is, unfortunately, now coming to an end. The Yahoo Answers website is shutting down on the 4th of May, so if you try to open it that day or later, it will redirect you to Yahoo's homepage. Yahoo Answer's archives will no longer exist either.

Yahoo Answers has been functioning since 2005, but with the rising popularity of other similar platforms such as Quora and Reddit, it hasn't remained as practical anymore.

Yahoo announced the termination of Yahoo Answers at the top of the forum's homepage and linked an FAQ that explains the timeline of the shutdown. According to the FAQ, Yahoo Answers won't be accepting new submissions following the 20th of April.

Moreover, if any user wants to request their data, they can do so only until June 30th, as all data will be inaccessible after that. User data includes all user-generated content like Questions list, Questions, Answers list, Answers, and any images.

Yahoo also sent a detailed note to currently active members of Yahoo Answers, about the reasons behind the shutdown of the platform. "It has become less popular over the years as the needs of our members have changed," said Yahoo. It further added that the company "decided to shift our resources away" from the product to "focus on products that better serve our members."
