Tell the Senate: It’s time to abolish the filibuster

Yet, despite Democrats having control of the House and Senate, there remains a huge barrier to putting his plans into action — the filibuster.      For decades, this Jim Crow relic has been abused to protect racist policies and block civil rights legislation in the Senate, allowing senators like Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz to hold the march of progress at bay.   Our country cannot make meaningful, lasting progress without ending the filibuster. Gun safety laws, climate action, raising the minimum wage, and voting rights protections will never become a reality nationwide with the filibuster standing in the way. We can abolish the filibuster, but we need your help. Will you take action today and send a quick pre-written email to your senators urging them to no longer let the filibuster stand in the way of progressive change?   The filibuster is mentioned nowhere in our Constitution, and all it takes to end it is a simple majority vote in the Senate. It's been amended numerous times in the Senate's history, including when Mitch McConnell ended the filibuster to put three Trump nominees on the Supreme Court.    Now, McConnell is using the filibuster to block progress for the American people. Enough is enough.
