Climate Driven Drop Alert!

Our “Climate Driven” series arrives in Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties starting Monday, including protecting water resources around Lewiston and Auburn, and how new hydroponic farming is taking root near Lisbon. So be sure to tune in for those across Morning Edition and All Things Considered!

In our Ten round up this week, Maine’s attorney general targets forever chemical producers, USM moves to expand its arts campus in Portland, and a new flu is identified in cows- should we worry?

Additional taps include the effort to keep Trappist monk beer arts alive, Vice President Harris travels in Africa to counter Chinese influence, and more twists in the original “Serial” case.

I’m seeing spring flowers sprouting but not blooming yet, come on April and May!

Catch you in the next round,
Mark

Register now for a Special Earth Day News & Brews Event!

Join Maine Public on Saturday, April 22 at the Maine Beer Company in Freeport for a trivia night themed to Maine Public’s Deep Dive: Climate Driven series. The trivia fun starts at 6:00 pm, but our news team will be there well in advance to talk about our climate reporting and field any comments and questions you may have. In fact, members of our news team will be assigned to trivia teams as “knowledgeable consultants” over the course of the trivia contest itself!

The evening’s trivia categories:

  • ALL ROCKS CONSIDERED (geology and things about the land)
  • CLIMATE CALLING (climate developments that are at our doorstep)
  • OFFSET THIS!!! (unique efforts to mitigate climate change)
  • SECOND NATURE (things we are doing that we may soon be doing differently)
  • IRWIN SAID WHAT?! (everything we couldn't cover in these other categories)

Space is limited, so create a team of 4 or 5, come up with a cool team name, and contact anew@mainepublic.org to register your group.
